Philippe Vergne to Leave Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in July 2026

Philippe Vergne, director of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, will conclude his term at his own request at the end of July 2026, the Serralves Foundation announced today in a statement. Vergne has served as the museum’s director since April 2019.

Before leaving the post, Philippe Vergne will help to curate several exhibitions, the statement said, thereby maintaining the continuity and quality of the outstanding programme that characterises 2026. “The programme for 2027 has already been presented to the Board of Directors of the Serralves Foundation,” it added.

In its press release, the foundation expressed its “deep appreciation to Philippe Vergne for the work carried out over these seven years, during which he brought artists and exhibitions of great importance to Serralves, helping to place the museum on an even higher international level”.

Wishing Philippe Vergne “every success in his future roles”, the board stated that the “selection process for the museum’s new leadership will be launched immediately”.
