Craftspeople’s House re-registration in São Caetano do Sul

From 25 June to 26 July, São Caetano do Sul City Council, through the Municipal Department of Culture (Secult), is carrying out the re-registration of members of the Craftspeople’s House, the municipality’s collaborative shop and creative-economy hub at 88 Pará Street, in the town centre.

The process is compulsory for every craftworker linked to the Craftspeople’s House. If their registration details are not updated by the stated deadline, the record will be deemed inactive.

This update will enable the Craftspeople’s House to maintain an active, current register that reflects the professionals who are now part of this important venue for promoting local craftwork.

Benefits of keeping Craftspeople’s House records up to date

“Over its history, the Craftspeople’s House has built up an important register of craftworkers from the municipality. As the years pass, however, it is natural for some of these professionals to stop working in the sector, change their contact details or no longer take part in activities organised by the Department of Culture. Re-registration is therefore an essential step in keeping this register current and representative of the local craftwork scene. The initiative will make it possible to identify the craftworkers who remain active, gain a better understanding of their profiles and strengthen the relationship between the Craftspeople’s House and its members,” explains the Secretary of Culture.

Having updated information will make it possible to improve communication, increase participation in fairs, exhibitions, training courses and other activities delivered by the Department of Culture, as well as to plan public policies and opportunities that are increasingly aligned with the sector’s needs.

The re-registration will also support more efficient management of the Craftspeople’s House, ensuring that spaces, projects and opportunities are directed towards professionals who wish to keep their connection active and take part in initiatives promoted by the municipality.

• Address: 88 Pará Street, Town Centre, São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo
• Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm; Saturdays, 9 am to 1 pm
• Products: Decorative items, household goods, costume jewellery, bags, wallets, bed, table and bath items, toys and more. Around 3,000 products are for sale, made from a range of materials including wood, glass, porcelain and fabric.
• Highlight: Exclusive handmade pieces created by around 400 local craftworkers, all of whom live in São Caetano.
