Belém International Airport Holds “Dawn on the Runway” Spotter Day

Belém International Airport, managed by Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA), held its “Dawn on the Runway” Spotter Day last Saturday (11), bringing together around 50 aviation and photography enthusiasts for an exclusive sunrise experience.

Starting in the early hours, the event allowed attendees to photograph aircraft movements from strategic locations around the airport, producing distinctive images in changing light conditions.

The programme included the operations of domestic and international airlines, including Air France, Avianca, GOL Linhas Aéreas, LATAM, Azul Conecta and Azul Linhas Aéreas, as well as the themed Goofy aircraft.

For Diego Moretti, NOA’s chief executive, Spotter Day provides a special opportunity to bring aviation enthusiasts closer to the airport environment.

“Belém International Airport is experiencing a new phase, with modernised infrastructure and greater connectivity. Opening this space in a planned and safe manner is a way to share this asset and celebrate the passion that inspires generations,” he said.

Spotter Day highlights airport operations

Participants such as spotter Ítalo Barroso described the event as an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the work behind flight operations. “As well as encouraging our passion for aviation, we were able to understand the complexity involved in ensuring safety during landings and take-offs. We hope there will be future editions, as the event is highly anticipated,” he said.

Stephany Ribeiro, who was taking part for the first time, explained that her interest in aviation photography began because she lives close to the airport. “Seeing the runways from my back garden was what motivated me to take photographs. Being inside the airport and following the operations was incredible. I want to return on other occasions,” she commented.

Every activity was carried out under the full supervision of NOA teams, with safety protocols rigorously observed to ensure organisation and peace of mind for participants.

Places for the “Dawn on the Runway” Spotter Day sold out in under 30 minutes after being announced on NOA Belém’s social media channels, demonstrating growing interest among the local spotting community and confirming the initiative’s success.
