Huawei has expanded its smart-device range with the Huawei M2 door lock, which focuses on security and independent operation.

The unit has a restrained design and a metal-coated body measuring 365 × 76.5 × 23 mm. It weighs 4.2 kg and runs on four AA batteries, providing up to 18 months of use.

Its principal feature is AI-supported fingerprint unlocking. The system learns with every use to improve recognition accuracy. According to the stated specifications, the lock opens in 0.5 seconds, while the likelihood of an error is kept to a minimum. NFC cards, digital and temporary passwords, “dummy” codes, and unlocking via Huawei smartphones and smartwatches are also supported.

Security is provided through several layers of protection: an EAL5+-certified chip for data storage, an additional access-verification module, and a Class C mechanical cylinder. The lock remains operational even if the external panel is damaged, while the system also alerts the user when the battery level is low.
